Knight Online chat quests: how much EXP does each chain give?

2026-09-13 6 min read
Short answer

Chat quests are quest chains you take by talking to an NPC, one following the other. There are 11 main chains from level 50 to 75; finish them all and you get about 1.68 billion EXP. The most efficient is Crack of All Means, which opens at level 50: 26 quests, 170 million EXP — eleven times a level 50 bar. The biggest is Lemegeton, which opens at level 70: 57 quests and 918 million EXP.

What is a chat quest?

Some quests in the game are taken from the marker above the NPC. Chat quests open by talking to the NPC and clicking the options in the chat window — that's where the name comes from.

The difference isn't just how you take them. Chat quests don't stand alone, they go in a chain: the next doesn't open until you finish the one before. Most of the EXP comes from the boss quest at the end of the chain. So a chain you leave half done doesn't pay back the time you spent.

The same chains exist for both nations, only the NPC names and locations change. The quest Nez gives on the El Morad side is given by Herga on the Karus side; the content and reward are the same.

All chat quest chains

Chain Level Quests Total EXP Bars at that level
Crack of All Means 50-59 26 170,250,000 11.2 bars
Descendant of Hero 60 11 25,655,000 0.35 bar
Goblin 60-64 17 117,750,000 1.6 bars
Long Revenge 61 10 41,500,000 0.31 bar
Self-made Hero 62 9 58,000,000 0.40 bar
Failed Mission 63 11 52,375,000 0.33 bar
Hidden Truth 64 10 55,375,000 0.31 bar
Regained Honor 65 9 67,750,000 0.35 bar
Sorcery 65-69 12 171,250,000 0.89 bar
Prophetic Poetry of Light 68 4 2,625,000 0.01 bar
Lemegeton 70-75 57 918,125,000 2.95 bars

The "Bars" column says this: how many times a single level bar, at the level the chain opens, the chain's total EXP is. At level 50 a bar is 15.2 million EXP while at level 70 it's 311 million — the same EXP does far more work at a lower level. The EXP needed per level is on the how much EXP per level page.

The 11 chains in the table add up to 176 quests and 1,680,655,000 EXP. Sounds like a lot, but going from level 50 to 83 needs 23.3 billion EXP — so all the chat quests together cover only 7% of that road.

That's why looking at chat quests as "a way to level" is wrong. The right view is this: at certain levels, in a few hours, they hand you an EXP package denser than anything farming would give in that time. The rest is still closed by farming.

Which chain is really worth it?

Level 50-59: Crack of All Means

By far the most profitable chain on the list. 170 million EXP means eleven times a bar at level 50. Start and finish the chain at 50 and it alone carries you to 57.

It's a long chain with 26 quests but it pays back. You start by talking to [Advisor] Nez in El Morad, [Advisor] Herga in Karus. Because the last parts of the chain take place in Ronark Land, getting in there has its own level requirement; the first part finishes comfortably at 50.

The advice is simple: start as soon as you hit 50. Doing the same chain at 65 gives the same EXP, but the value of that EXP drops to a quarter.

Level 60-65: the short chains

Descendant of Hero, Long Revenge, Self-made Hero, Failed Mission, Hidden Truth and Regained Honor — all six are between 9 and 11 quests and each gives about a third of a bar at the level it opens.

They look small one by one, but the six add up to 300 million EXP and all of them finish in the 60-65 range. Because that's where farming slows down and the level bar grows fast, doing all six in order makes sense.

They share one more bonus: they give Chitin Shell pieces and Certificate of Victory. As you finish the chains in order, set pieces pile up in your inventory.

Above 65: Sorcery and Lemegeton

The Sorcery chain gives 171 million EXP over 12 quests; it starts with [Order of the Sorcery Leader] Pelore or Malraseu in Eslant. One of the densest chains by quest count.

Lemegeton is the biggest chat quest chain in the game: 57 quests, 918 million EXP, 3.4 million Noah and 950 National Points. It opens at level 70 and runs to 75. On its own it gives close to the total of the other ten chains.

Prophetic Poetry of Light is the one exception in this table: 4 quests, 2.6 million EXP. Not even 1% of a bar at level 68; not a chain you do for EXP.

Where do the chains start?

Chain El Morad Karus
Crack of All Means [Advisor] Nez [Advisor] Herga
Descendant of Hero [Moradon Merchant] Clark [Moradon Merchant] Shymer
Goblin [Goblin Punitive Force] Wells [Goblin Punitive Force] Raul
Long Revenge [Captain] Falkwine [Captain] Fargo
Self-made Hero [Guard] Zalk [Guard] Malverick
Failed Mission [Ascetic] Tabeth [Ascetic] Veda
Hidden Truth [Ascetic] Tabeth [Ascetic] Veda
Regained Honor [Guard] Zalk [Guard] Malverick
Sorcery [Order of the Sorcery Leader] Pelore [Order of the Sorcery Leader] Malraseu
Lemegeton [Order of the Sorcery] Sais [Order of the Sorcery] Bros

The chain usually passes to another NPC as it goes on; the names here are the ones giving the first quest. You can search all 874 quests with level, NPC and reward in the quest list.

Guardian of 7 Keys: half a bar in a single quest

This quest sits outside the chat chains but it's the most asked about. At level 60 it's given by [Captain] Falkwine in El Morad, [Captain] Fargo in Karus, and completing it earns 38,047,370 EXP.

What the number means: at level 60 a bar is 73.4 million EXP. So a single quest fills more than half the bar. There's almost no other quest in the game that gives this much EXP in one go.

As the name suggests you have to collect seven keys, which is why it takes long. Still, it goes at the top of the list because it's the best return on time spent at level 60.

Do quests reset?

Yes, but not on a calendar. From time to time — mostly during anniversary events — the game resets all quests and you can do the chains you finished before all over again.

There's no fixed date; it's announced in advance with the maintenance notice. The real benefit of a reset is recovering the chains you skipped; redoing the same chain at a higher level is less useful, because the EXP you get stays the same while the level bar grows.

To follow event periods you can use the event times page.

Common mistakes with chat quests

  • Leaving the chain half done. Most of the EXP comes from the boss quest at the end of the chain; a chain dropped in the middle doesn't give the time back.
  • Starting late. The EXP from doing Crack of All Means at 50 and at 65 is the same, the value differs four times over.
  • Not waiting for the level requirement. If the next part of the chain doesn't open because your level isn't enough, the quest sits stuck in your list; seeing in advance which part needs what level saves time.
  • Selling the reward items. Chitin Shell pieces and Certificate of Victory come in useful as the chain goes on.
  • Wasting time looking for monsters. Checking which zone the quest monster is in from the monster list is faster than roaming the field.
  • Going to the boss quest alone. The boss quests at the end of the chains aren't one-person jobs; going in without a party is usually a waste of time.
The quest counts, level requirements, NPC names and EXP rewards here were calculated from the game's own quest records — all 874 quests. How many bars the EXP equals was worked out from the game's own level table. The table the bar math rests on is open on the [how much EXP per level](/en/guide/hangi-level-kac-exp) page; you can check the numbers yourself.

Frequently asked

Quest chains taken by talking to an NPC and clicking the options in the chat window, one following the other. The difference from normal quests is that they go in a chain: the next doesn't open until one is finished, and most of the EXP comes from the boss quest at the end of the chain.

The first big chain, Crack of All Means, opens at level 50. Descendant of Hero and Goblin start at 60, Long Revenge at 61, Self-made Hero at 62, Failed Mission at 63, Hidden Truth at 64, Regained Honor at 65. Sorcery is in the 65-69 range, and the biggest one, Lemegeton, opens at level 70.

The 11 main chains add up to 176 quests and 1,680,655,000 EXP. That's about 7% of the 23.3 billion EXP needed to go from level 50 to 83. So chat quests alone won't take you to 83, but they give a serious jump at certain levels.

In absolute terms Lemegeton: 57 quests and 918,125,000 EXP. But the most valuable by level is Crack of All Means — it gives 170 million EXP and since a bar at level 50 is 15.2 million, that alone is eleven bars of EXP.

The Guardian of 7 Keys quest is given at level 60 by [Captain] Falkwine in El Morad and [Captain] Fargo in Karus and earns 38,047,370 EXP. Because a bar at level 60 is 73.4 million EXP, this single quest fills more than half the bar.

Yes. El Morad and Karus have the same chains, the same quest counts and the same rewards. The only thing that changes is the NPC names and locations — the quest Nez gives in El Morad is given by Herga in Karus.

There's no fixed calendar. From time to time, mostly as part of anniversary events, the game resets all quests and you can do the chains you finished again. The reset is announced in advance with the maintenance notice.

Your progress stays saved and you can continue where you left off later. But because most of the EXP comes from the boss quest at the end of the chain, a half-done chain doesn't pay back the time spent.
