Border Defense War (BDW) guide: times, levels, scoring and rewards

Knight Online Border Defense War runs daily at 02:00, 13:00 and 19:00 Turkey time, 30 minutes, 8 vs 8. Level 20-80 and the 80+ BDW, the 600-point rule, Red Treasure Chest and EXP scrolls.

Short answer

Border Defense War starts every day at 02:00, 13:00 and 19:00 (Turkey time, UTC+3) and lasts 30 minutes. When it is time, a small window pops up on screen and you join from there; no NPC needed. It is 8 vs 8: the team that reaches 600 points first or leaves the other side with no players wins, otherwise the higher score when time runs out. You can join all three sessions on the same day.

What is BDW?

A short battle between the two nations in Kalluga Valley on the border. The game describes it as a fierce battle that breaks out to gain control of the Protectors Stone near the border.

Teams are 8 vs 8 and put together at random from the players who join; the first applicants get priority when rooms open. Unlike Chaos there is no equalizing: everyone uses all of their own skills.

How do you join BDW?

  1. At session time (02:00, 13:00 or 19:00) a small join window appears on screen. It shows the minutes left to join; press Join before it runs out.
  2. If you are between level 20 and 80 you join the normal BDW. There is a separate BDW above level 80, permanent since July 2022.
  3. Without Premium, the 80+ BDW costs 100 monthly national points (NP). If you withdraw, the points are not refunded, and you cannot join without enough points.
  4. You can join all three sessions on the same day.

Scoring

What Rule
Killing an enemy 2 points for the team, a few national points for you

Inside the battle

  • The player carrying the altar is slowed. The slow ends when it is delivered or the carrier dies.
  • If you die you respawn in your own area. If you do not get up, you are sent to Moradon.
  • If you win without an opponent, no chest is given.
  • The ~ key opens the War Board with the state of the battle, separate for each group.

What do you get from BDW?

Winning gives a Red Treasure Chest, which you open at [Operator] Moira in Moradon (756, 772). Both the winners and the losers get EXP, more with Premium.

The Red Treasure Chest holds 77 different items. The most common are Deep Scar, Elixir Staff, Impact, Mirage and Priest Impact at 2.9% each. Raptor, Iron Bow, Iron Impact and Shard are 1.45% each. The 10 rarest weapons (Dark Vane, Hanguk Sword, Hell Breaker, Enion Bow, Smite Hammer, Wrath / Glacier / Lightning Erenion, Defender of the Lord and Ron's Staff) add up to 0.95%. Since June 2022 the Higher Level scroll can also be used at level 83.

The BDW quest

[Captain] Fargo in Luferson (411, 1721) and [Captain] Falkwine in El Morad (1645, 333) give the 'Hero of Border Defense Guards' quest at level 47. It asks for the Higher Level Border Guard Reward Ascent Scroll from BDW.
